Having just celebrated World Oceans Day here at Green Coast Rubbish, we were pumped to hear about the upcoming Toast to the Coast family friendly beach event being held by Greenpeace Canada in Vancouver this coming Saturday.

Toast to the Coast is a celebration of the Pacific Ocean with the message that people – not oil – belong on Vancouver’s beaches. The event will also focus on protecting the coast given upcoming oil drilling activity in Alaska that will eventually send oil supertankers and increased tanker traffic to our coastal waters.

If you would like to join the Greenpeace Toast to the Coast event which includes music, art, food trucks and games, and the launch of a giant salmon (designed by Roy Henry Vickers) turned into a lantern, here are the event details:

Event:  Toast to the Coast
Date:  Saturday, June 13
Time:  4 pm – 10 pm
Location:  Jericho Beach, Vancouver, BC
What to bring: This is a no waste event. Please bring your own water bottles, plates, utensils and a picnic.
