What We Take In Our Bins
We strive to ensure we recycle of all our customers’ waste materials properly and at the most cost effective way. The following guidelines are meant to help educate our customers on what on load sizes, material types and what to expect.
Mattresses
We can take all mattresses and box springs however each transfer station charges a surcharge for disposing of them. If mattresses and box springs are loaded into a mixed load, they must be load last and easily accessible from the rear door of the bin. Please note that if a mattress or box spring is loaded first and we have to dig to get the mattress out at the transfer station, a labour surcharge will be incurred on top of the transfer station surcharge.
Appliances & Electronics
We can take appliances and electronics, however being they are recycled differently, they need to be easily accessible form the rear door and loaded last. If appliances and electronics are buried within a load, then please note that a labour surcharge will be incurred on top of the tipping fees.
Concrete & Gravel
Due to the weight of concrete, a maximum bin size is 15 cubic yards. Concrete must not be mixed with any other materials as it can be sent to a specific recycler for concrete. If any other materials are loaded with the concrete, then please note that additional charges will be incurred.*The bin cannot be loaded above the bin wall or we have refuse the load and ask you to unload some of the materials.
Dirt & Rocks
Due to the weight of these materials, a maximum of 8 cubic yards is allowed. Dirt and rocks cannot be loaded with any other materials but can be mixed together.*The bin cannot be loaded above the bin wall or we have refuse the load and ask you to unload some of the materials.
Asphalt & Tar and Gravel Roofing
Due to the weight of these materials, a maximum size of 15 yards is allowed. These materials cannot be mixed with any other materials due to the specific route these need to be recycled.
Treated or Burnt Wood
Because of environmental regulations, all treated and burnt wood must be taken to a special recycling facility and cannot not be mixed with any other materials.
Drywall / Gypsum
All drywall loads must be accompanied with proper testing documentation. Any drywall./gypsum loads without documentation or date stamps will be refused. Due to the strict recycling regulations with drywall, it needs to be taken to a specific recycler and cannot not be mixed with any other materials. We cannot accept drywall with asbestos in it at this time and a specialized company needs to be called for transportation.
Vehicle Tires
You can load tires in our bins, but they must be easily accessible form the rear door. If they are buried within the load a labour surcharge will be added to your bill. In addition, all transfer stations charge a surcharge for used tires on a per tire basis. We can also take a fully loaded bin of used tires for recycling. For more information, please call 604-RECYCLE or visit the Tire Stewardship BC website.
