Zero-Waste Office Furniture Recycling ! Green Coast in Action

zero-waste office furniture recycling

Green Coast Rubbish thrives on working with like-minded companies and was thrilled to be contacted by the Transat team, which was seeking a Zero-Waste Office Furniture Recycling solution for their office furniture removal due to the closing of one of its Vancouver offices.

The Challenge | Zero-Waste Office Furniture Recycling Solution:

Recycling the office furniture from this Vancouver office would be a worthy challenge. Transat staff found a home for some of the items as part of their philosophy of promoting reuse. The remainder, including desks, chairs, and workstations, was left to our Green Coast Rubbish team to handle.

In preparation for the project, we were able to secure a donation partner to take 100% of the office furniture, which was a giant win for everyone and made us feel great about diverting all of that material from the landfill!

The Green Coast team removed 40 yards, or nearly 2 tonnes, of executive-style office desks, chairs, and workstations, as well as a fridge and some miscellaneous office waste.

The workstations, which could accommodate up to 20 people each, had table tops and partitions with modular power and data cables throughout, They were dismantled and disconnected by our team and carefully loaded into our trucks, where they were all donated for reuse.

Notable quote

“We found Green Coast Rubbish by searching online and went with them because they try to reuse, donate or recycle the items they take, which is in line with our company’s philosophy.

“Eamonn was very easy to work with. He even came by the office just to assess and scope things out. On the day of the work, Eamonn and his team worked quickly and efficiently to dismantle and remove all of our big workstations and computer desks, as well as a fridge and other miscellaneous items!

“Needless to say, our company was very impressed and highly recommend them!”

– Ting Lee, Transat

“We are always happy to help and this project went especially well, as we were able to donate all of the office’s furniture for reuse. Zero Waste projects are a win-win every time!”

– Eamonn Duignan, Green Coast Rubbish
