Green Coast Rubbish has a great working relationship with Mountain Equipment Coop, and will manage waste diversion for all of their out-of-store events in Metro Vancouver this year.

Green Coast Rubbish Waste Diversion for MEC EventsThere’s a great selection of events planned, starting with Race ONE – The Rust Buster – the first of seven events in the 2016 MEC Race Series.  Participants of the Rust Buster run a 5 km or 10 km race on February 7 starting from picturesque Devonian Harbour Park and running counter-clockwise along the beautiful Stanley Park seawall on the edge of Vancouver’s downtown West End.  Races TWO through SEVEN take place at locations throughout Vancouver, Richmond, and Coquitlam.

Green Coast Rubbish starts work when each event is over, tasked to remove, weigh, record and report whatever waste and recycling was generated.

“We have had a great working relationship with MEC, and are honoured to be their exclusive partner in managing their events for 2016,” says Eamonn Duignan, President & CEO, Green Coast Rubbish.

Additional Mountain Equipment Coop events this year include BikefestPaddlefestSnowfest and a Sprint Triatholon. Green Coast has managed the waste diversion for MEC’s Bikefest event for the past several years and is pumped to be called upon for more events this year.

“To be working with a forward thinking and sustainably minded organization like MEC is a real pleasure for us and a source of great pride for me personally,” adds Duignan.
